The Western History Timeline

The western history timeline is a list of major events that shaped the development of Western culture and civilization. Its origin is in ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, but it eventually spread throughout the world and remains the dominant culture of modern North America, South America and much of Oceania. The Western history timeline covers the development of Western culture from prehistory to the time when it was influenced by other cultures.

Christopher Columbus “discovered” the Americas, but it is important to note that he did not actually discover anything new; it was already inhabited by thousands of people. The European colonization of the Americas led to the enslavement and slaughter of indigenous populations, but it was the beginning of an enduring global impact from the West.

In modern times, some of the most significant events on the Western history timeline include the Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement. The latter was triggered by the 1969 riots that became known as the Stonewall riots, and it has helped to liberalize Western views on sexual morality. The United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War was another defining moment on the timeline of the American West, as it has helped to influence the politics of other countries around the world.

Other events that occurred during this period include the annexation of Alaska by the United States and the admission of the last western territories as states into the Union. The American West is considered to be the area of the United States that lies west of the Mississippi River.
