A Brief Summary of Western History
A Brief Summary of Western History
Western history is the study of the origin of civilization. The roots of western civilization go back to the Mediterranean and Europe. It is linked to ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. It evolved from the Middle Ages and emerged as Medieval Western Christendom. Here is a brief summary of this area of human history. This is a fascinating time period for the students of history. During this period, the civilization evolved and became influential throughout the world.
After the fall of the Roman Empire, the people of the West migrated to the eastern regions of the United States. In the year 6 BC, Jesus was born to a Jewish family in Nazareth. The god of Israel spread throughout the Western World and later ruled the area. The western calendar is divided into Before Christ (BC) and Anno Domini (AD) periods. During this time, the ancient civilizations of the Americas and Europe came to dominate the Western World.
After the loss of their colonial possessions, Western nations turned to their own politics. During this time, the European Union became a powerful entity, and the Western nations tended to lose their overseas colonies. The colonial empires left a large cultural and political legacy. As a result, European languages and technologies spread to the rest of the world. Christianity was thriving in post-colonial Africa and Christianity and Western culture was replacing traditional monarchies and tribal governments.
The new approach to western history has polarized debates about the value of “the West” and its role in American culture. However, the new perspective challenges the “creation myth” as an idealized image of the West that features unbounded optimism and a land that is free of East influences. For instance, Frederick Jackson Turner claimed that the “freer man” was born on the frontier and in the wilderness. In the meantime, the new generation of western historians has destroyed the myth.
Until the mid-1980s, most historians considered the past of the West as triumphant, and were not concerned with the era of conflict in the East. Today, many historians have begun to question this myth as a result of the changes in society. The West was once a place where people were free. It was a region where no one had existed before. In the past, the West was a land that had a population of about three million. As a result, there was much violence, war, and poverty.
The new western history was born of the 1990s. The term “new” was first used at a conference in Santa Fe, where a group of western historians had come together to discuss changes in their field. The symposium was titled “Trails Toward a New Western History.” The speakers at the conference referred to it in a way that implied that a new movement was forming. This term became popularized in the media.
